CJ Stroud tells Cam Newton that Auburn ‘sucks,’ says Bama fine without Saban

Old feelings die hard when it comes to college football.

So when former Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud joined former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton on Newton’s “The 4th and 1″ podcast, he made it clear that Alabama owns Auburn.

“Not worried about you,” Stroud said. “Auburn sucks.”

Newton, who won the 2010 Heisman Trophy at Auburn, replied, “(Nick) Saban out of there. We got a chance.”

The Houston Texans quarterback quipped, “Bama on that.”

It was just a short exchange during what was a conversation about the success Stroud had in his rookie season in Houston. In fact, Newton praised Stroud for having arguably the best rookie season of all time.

“I don’t know nobody that really had a better rookie campaign than you,” Newton said.

Stroud threw for 4,108 yards and 23 touchdowns, with just five interceptions in 15 games. The quarterback was quick to return the kind words, highlighting Newton’s rookie season in Carolina.

“We didn’t make it to the playoffs,” Newton said. “We didn’t win. You won and you made it look sexy. You were standing on business. It wasn’t even your performance as much as you defying the odds. … That market that you went in, it wasn’t set up for you to win like you won.”
